Highlights

Dong Ho folk woodcut painting is a genre of Vietnamese folk painting, stemming from Dong Ho Village. It is not just a product of normal art but also reflects the essence of Vietnamese culture from years ago.

Apart from the beauty of lines and layouts, vibrant color, the folk feature of Dong Ho paintings lays on its color and paper, both handmade and derived from materials available in nature. The paper is made of the bark of a tree called "do" and powder of seashells, glutinous rice whilst colors of paint in Dong Ho pictures are processed from various kinds of natural materials. Each stage requires a detailed and skillful technique to maintain its typical quality and appearance.
